Exterior, Masonry & Fence Paints
A QUICK GUIDE TO WHAT YOU NEED 

1. Exterior Paints
Designed to withstand weather, UV exposure, and temperature changes.
Best for:
•     House walls (render, wood, metal, cladding)
•     Soffits, fascias, trims
•     Doors and window frames (when labelled suitable)
•     UV‑resistant to prevent fading
•     Flexible film to avoid cracking
•     Mould and algae resistance
•     Wide colour range and finishes (matt, satin, gloss)

2. Masonry Paints
Formulated specifically for brick, render, concrete, and stone.
Best for:
•     Brickwork
•     Pebbledash
•     Concrete walls
•     Rendered surfaces
Key features:
•     Highly breathable (lets moisture escape)
•     Weatherproof and durable
•     Often thicker for better coverage
•     Can be smooth or textured (to hide imperfections)
Types:
Smooth masonry paint: Clean finish, easy to apply, modern look

Textured masonry paint: Hides cracks/uneven surfaces, more robust

3. Fence Paints
Made for timber fencing, sheds, and garden structures.
Best for:
•     Fences
•     Sheds
•     Garden furniture (if compatible)
Key features:
•     Penetrates wood for protection
•     Water‑repellent
•     Often quick‑drying
•     Available as paint, stain, or treatment

Fence coatings explained:
Fence paint: Solid colour  Sits on surface

Fence stain: Semi‑transparent, Very good, Enhances wood grain 

Wood preservative Clear/coloured, Excellent, Protects against rot & insects 

Choosing the Right One
Here’s a simple rule of thumb:
•     Brick/render? → Masonry paint
•     Wooden fence or shed? → Fence paint or stain
•     Exterior walls of a house? → Exterior wall paint (or masonry paint if brick/render)
•     Metal gates or railings? → Exterior metal paint (specialist)
